Le Président Nana Akufo-Addo a prêté serment ce jeudi 7 janvier après proclamation de sa victoire. Mais l’opposition a boycotté cette cérémonie d’investiture.
A cette cérémonie solennelle de prestation de serment, des dirigeants africains, asiatiques, américains et européens. Cependant, les députés de l’opposition, ainsi que le chef de file, John Dramani Mahama, classé 2ème à la présidentielle avec 47,36% des voix ont purement et simplement boycotté la cérémonie d’investiture du chef de l’Etat.

Le nouveau président de l’Assemblée nationale, Alban Bagbin, élu très tôt dans la journée avant la cérémonie, était le seul opposant du parti NDC qui a assisté à la cérémonie qu’il avait d’ailleurs l’obligation de présider.
Dans son discours d’investiture, le nouveau Président réélu, Nana Akufo-Addo a appelé à l’unité nationale et surtout à un effort collectif pour le développement du Ghana. Il a d’ailleurs promis œuvrer pour hisser le flambeau du pays au concert des grandes nations économiquement stables.
